RO: Am profitat de mica vacanță de 1 decembrie și astfel am petrecut câteva zile în Budapesta, capitala Ungariei. Am mai vizitat Budapesta iarna, acum șapte ani, iar despre vacanța de atunci am scris aici. Dar acum le-am avut cu noi și pe fetițele noastre, de 5 ani și jumătate, respectiv 1 an și jumătate.
EN: We took advantage of the small holiday on December 1 and we spent a few days in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. We visited Budapest in the winter before, seven years ago, and I wrote about the vacation from that time here. But now we also had our little girls with us, aged 5 and a half and 1 and a half, respectively.
RO: Cu ce am ajuns în Budapesta
Ne-am încumetat pentru prima oară la un drum lung cu mașina alături de fetițele noastre. Dar pentru că ne-am cam temut că nu vor rezista unui drum atât de lung, am împărțit drumul. Astfel că în prima zi am parcurs cu mașina distanța Vatra Dornei – Cluj-Napoca, iar în a doua zi am parcurs restul drumului (Cluj-Napoca-Budapesta). Per total am mers aproximativ 10 ore cu mașina.
Ca să fim siguri că nu se plictisesc în mașină și că reușesc să doarmă suficient la prânz, am stat cu ele pe bancheta din spate. Ne-am uitat prin cărți, ne-am jucat cu diverse jucării, am cântat, am lipit abțibilduri. În felul acesta, drumul cu fetele a fost mult mai ușor decât ne-am așteptat.
EN: How we got to Budapest
We ventured for the first time on a long drive with our little girls. But as we were a little afraid that they would not withstand such a long journey, we split the journey. So on the first day we drove the distance between Vatra Dornei – Cluj-Napoca, and on the second day we drove the rest of the way (Cluj-Napoca-Budapest). In total we drove about 10 hours.
To make sure they don’t get bored in the car and manage to get enough sleep at lunchtime, I sat with them in the back seat. We looked through books, played with various toys, sang, and pasted stickers. This way, the trip with the girls was much easier than we expected.
RO: Cazare Budapesta
Și de data asta am ales să stăm într-un apartament pe care l-am găsit pe Airbnb. Acesta se află chiar în centrul Budapestei, foarte aproape de toate mijloacele de transport în comun (metrou, autobuz, tramvai) și de multe restaurante. Și prețul a fost ok. Am plătit mai puțin de 100 de euro pe noapte. Apartamentul are două dormitoare generoase și este complet utilat. Totuși, nu ne-au plăcut câteva lucruri. Curățenia era superficială, tâmplăria de la geamuri era în stare jalnică, perdelele și canapeaua erau rupte, iar cireașa de pe tort – la baie mirosea îngrozitor tot timpul.
EN: Budapest accommodation
As we almost always do, we chose to stay in an apartment we found on AirBnb. It is located right in the center of Budapest, very close to all means of public transport (metro, bus, tram) and many restaurants. And the price was ok. We paid less than 100 euro per night. The apartment has two generous bedrooms and is fully furnished. However, we didn’t like a few things. The cleanliness was superficial, the joinery on the windows was in poor condition, the curtains and sofa were torn, and the icing on the cake – the bathroom smelled awful all the time.
RO: Parcare Budapesta
De ceva vreme, nu prea mai există parcare gratis nicăieri în Budapesta. Orașul e împărțit pe zone, fiecare cu un tarif orar diferit, iar plata se poate face la automatele de parcare de pe stradă sau online, prin intermediul aplicației TPark.
Noi am ales să lăsăm mașina într-o parcare supraetajată din apropierea apartamentului, numită Oktogon Parkolohaz. Pentru o săptămână am plătit 35.000 HUF (aproximativ 90 de euro) plus 5.000 HUF (13 euro) garanție pentru cartela magnetică (pe aceștia i-am primit înapoi când am predat cartela, înainte de plecare).
EN: Parking in Budapest
For some time now, there has been no free parking anywhere in Budapest. The city is divided into zones, each with a different hourly rate, and payment can be made at the parking machines on the street or online, through the TPark application.
We chose to leave the car in a multi-storey car park near the apartment, called Oktogon Parkolohaz. For one week we paid 35,000 HUF (about 90 euros) plus 5,000 HUF (13 euros) deposit for the magnetic card (we got this back when I handed in the card, before departure).
RO: Cu ce ne-am deplasat prin Budapesta
Noi am folosit foarte mult transportul în comun. Rețeaua de transport este foarte bine pusă la punct. Există chiar și benzi speciale pentru autobuze, iar tramvaiele circulă din trei în trei minute. Da, ai citit bine. Chiar a fost o plăcere să călătorim cu transportul în comun. Iar cine dorește poate închiria chiar și trotinete și biciclete. Sunt chiar și benzi speciale pentru bicicliști.
După prima zi, ne-am dat seama că este mai avantajos dacă optăm pentru un abonament pentru trei zile. Dacă vrei să circuli cu metroul, trebuie să știi că trebuie să arăți biletul sau abonamentul la intrarea în stația de metrou. Nu sunt turnicheți ca în București, de exemplu.
EN: What we used to move around Budapest
We used public transport a lot. The transport network is very well developed. There are even dedicated bus lanes and trams run every three minutes. Yes, you read that right. It was really a pleasure to travel by public transport. And those who wish can even rent scooters and bicycles. There are even special lanes for cyclists.
After the first day, we realized that it is more advantageous if we opt for a three-day subscription. If you want to ride the metro, you should know that you have to show your ticket or pass at the entrance to the metro station. There are no turnstiles like in Bucharest, for example.
RO: Unde am mâncat bine în Budapesta
La capitolul restaurante bune, Budapesta stă foarte bine. Cel puțin la cele la care am mâncat noi, mâncarea a fost foarte bună. Am încercat și specialități ungurești, dar am mâncat și mâncare indiană.
Ne-a plăcut mult mâncarea de la Tulipano Restaurant, Paprika Vendeglo, Cafe New York, Cafe Vian, Menza Étterem és Kávézó și Indigo Restaurant.
Pentru două feluri de mâncare, limonadă, bere și apă am plătit undeva la 45 de euro.
EN: Where we ate well in Budapest
When it comes to good restaurants, Budapest is very good. At least at the ones we ate at, the food was very good. We tried Hungarian specialties, but we also ate Indian food.
We really enjoyed the food at Tulipano Restaurant, Paprika Vendeglo, Cafe New York, Cafe Vian, Menza Étterem és Kávézó and Indigo Restaurant.
For two dishes, lemonade, beer and water we paid somewhere around 45 euros.
RO: Obiective Budapesta
Budapesta este un oraș ofertant, astfel că nu ne-a fost deloc greu să alegem ce să vizităm. Printre obiectivele din Budapesta care merită admirate se numără Castelul Buda, Biserica Mathias și Bastionul Pescarilor. Dar și un mic dejun sau o gustare în cea mai veche cafenea din Budapesta, New York Cafe, ar trebui să fie pe listă. Și Băile Gellert sunt de vizitat, chiar dacă nu ești fan băi termale. Iar dacă mergi cu copiii, de neratat ar fi Tropicarium și un loc de joacă imens, pe care-l găsești pe hartă sub denumirea Main Playground in Városliget. Dar despre toate acestea îți voi povesti pe larg într-un articol separat.
EN: Budapest objectives
Budapest is a city that has a lot to offer, so it was not difficult for us to choose what to visit. Buda Castle, Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion are among the sights in Budapest worth admiring. But also a breakfast or a snack in Budapest’s oldest cafe, New York Cafe, should be on the list. And the Gellert Baths are worth a visit, even if you’re not a fan of thermal baths. And if you go with children, you should not miss the Tropicarium and a huge playground, which you can find on the map under the name Main Playground in Városliget. But I will tell you about all this in detail in a separate article.
